Summary:
The RN will administer, supervise, teach, record and evaluate the professional nursing care given to patients in the Cardiac Cath Lab.
Principal Duties and
Responsibilities:
The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job.
He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.
Performs all cardiac cath procedures with technical accuracy and a thorough understanding of all procedures performed.
Assists in providing optimum care for patients undergoing cardiovascular procedures by possessing necessary knowledge of cardiovascular disease and medications.
Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system.
Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of sterile technique.
Demonstrates knowledge of radiation safety and equipment safety.
Demonstrates a working knowledge of x ray equipment, pressure injector, and hemodynamic equipment.
Troubleshooting equipment as able.
Provides a safe environment.
Records an accurate medical history and physical assessment according to procedure to be performed.
Schedules patients.
Assists in the orientation of new personnel.
Takes call as assigned.
This includes non-call staff in efforts to cover call as needed at the discretion of the management.
